Shot reverse shot is a filming technique used to allow the viewer to watch the action from the opposite side of the previous shot. For example this technique would be used during a conversation between actors to give the effect of looking from one actor to another to help make the conversation flow and so you are able to see the actors reactions. Because the characters are shown facing different directions it makes the viewer think they are looking at each other. This filming technique is a feature of the "classical" Hollywood style of continuity editing.
